This week’s new Online Time Trial breaks from routine in a big way. Gran Turismo 7 drops you into the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter at Eiger Nordwand, running on Sports Soft tires.

A kart in the Time Trial lineup is a rare sight, and it tends to split the room. Karts in GT7 drive nothing like anything else, with darty steering and an aversion to curbs. However, the kart is one of the few things in the game that rewards a different set of habits, and that makes it worth a few laps even if you finish them grumbling.

The last time karts turned up here was back in March 2025, when the same 125 Shifter ran at Brands Hatch. (Eiger, as it happens, was hosting the other active event that week.)

The silver lining for the kart-averse is the track. Eiger Nordwand is a short layout with minimal curbs, so the lap is over quickly and you’ll have a stack of attempts in no time. The kart is also the cheapest car in GT7 and can be borrowed for the event if you’re especially tight, so there’s no excuse not to give it a go.

Of course, this isn’t the only Time Trial running right now. The Days of Play challenge that went live yesterday puts a real-world hardware prize pool on the line for whoever tops the global leaderboard at Laguna Seca, and it runs in parallel with the regular weekly events rather than in place of them.

One Week Left at Monza

The continuing event has one week left on the clock. The De Tomaso Mangusta ’69 stays put at Autodromo Nazionale Monza on Sports Hard tires, and it closes on June 4. If you’ve not set a lap yet, last week’s write-up has the full details.

Accessing Online Time Trials

To access the Online Time Trials, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe. PlayStation Plus is not required. Once an event closes, gold goes to players within 3% of the fastest time (2m credits), silver within 5% (1m credits), and bronze within 10% (250,000cr).

Events update every Thursday, with each challenge running for two weeks and the oldest being replaced. The next new Time Trial arrives on June 4.
