Forza Horizon 6 PS5 launch still on track for 2026

Xbox has a new CEO, Asha Sharma, and a new logo. Plus, we’re meant to write Xbox as XBOX now.

So far, the news has been very positive, with fans of Microsoft’s gaming division noticing significant changes already, such as changes to Game Pass pricing.

The new leadership comes in the wake of Gears of War, Halo, Sea of Thieves and many other tentpole Xbox (sorry, XBOX) titles making their way to the PlayStation 5.

Another popular former green-console exclusive made the transition last year, Forza Horizon 5, and it reportedly sold over five million units

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella even cited the game’s sales success in a post-PS5 release earnings call.

However, Sharma recently replied with “Hear you” to a post on X, opining that “Xbox games must be only on Xbox.”

Forza Horizon 6, meanwhile, released on PC and XBOX this week, to rave reviews. A PS5 version was previously confirmed, although no release date is currently known.

With the recent chess moves at the parent company, we asked developer Playground Games if the PlayStation version of Horizon 6 is still on the way. Emphatically, it is.

“Yes, absolutely,” said Mike Bennett to Traxion, Production Director at Playground Games, when asked specifically about the PS5 version of Horizon 6.

“That’s still coming later this year. Stay tuned for [more] news on that.”

He then went on to say that the response from owners of the Sony platform about Forza Horizon 5 was “incredible”.

“I think it kind of blew us away, honestly,” said Bennett to Traxion.

“It was pretty humbling to see the reaction. We just love building games, we love people playing our games, and we welcome a new audience of people from the PlayStation side into Forza Horizon and let them experience what they’ve been missing out on for so many years.

“The reaction to that was incredible.”

There may be change afoot at XBOX, but Forza Horizon 6, at least, is very much a multi-platform release.
