Clutch leans into Manaco vibe and star-studded acting lineup for bombastic trailer
  • Clutch’s latest trailer showcases Monaco location for AAA open-world driving game
  • Clutch Tech items used to attach to a flying helicopter
  • Little Simz and Peter Serafinowicz lead acting talent, trailer uses The Killers
  • Off-road racing spotted for the first time

The debut driving game by embryonic UK studio Maverick Games, Clutch, has showcased more of its story within a Summer Game Fest trailer.

Following the initial details earlier this week, the formerly Amazon-tied outfit used the banner video game event to provide dialogue and story hints of its “narrative-led” driving game.

Here, central characters Theo Martia (Tosin Cole) and his sister Cass Martial (Little Simz) are discussing, presumably, the pressures of trying to fund a circuit racing career for the Riviera 1000 (R1K) competition.

Elsewhere, R1K-leader George McBride discusses the ramifications of a serious on-track incident, acted by Peter Serafinowicz (Brian Butterfield, Shaun of the Dead), followed by further heist hijinks, police chases and getaway missions away from the circuit.

Other acting talent includes Jane Perry (Phantom Thread, Returnal) and Grégory Montel (Call My Agent!).

The Southern-France location is now confirmed to include Manaco, opening with a dramatic heli shot of what looks to be the Principality. Later, there is a shot of a corner that is reminiscent of the Portier corner on the grand prix loop, plus a glimpse of what could be the Casino de Monte-Carlo.

Speaking of brief shots, a Jeep Wrangler is seen racing across a dirt surface. Several, highly customisable, cars seen in the initial unveil are present once more, but this time joined by the aforementioned Jeep, a Lamborghini Diablo and culminating in an Aston Martin Vahalla jumping at a helicopter before firing a grappling hook.

That scene is all a bit ‘Fast & Furious’, the later ones where street racing seems to have been forgotten.

Other modifications on show include neon underglow and what appears to be a nitrous boost – the most outlandish of these are called ‘Clutch Tech’.

In previous podcasts by the development team, online multiplayer was teased as “different”. Accompanying this new trailer is a press release that touts “PvPvE” action against “rival crews” in a “living action-driving world.”

Clutch is slated for a spring 2027 release on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
