With the latest Forza Horizon instalment taking the racing game sphere by storm, it is about time we give you all some pointers as to which cars are best in each class. To do that, we enlisted the help of an old friend.

When it comes to racing games, we at OverTake typically lean towards the more sim racing-centric titles, but that doesn't rule out the more 'arcadey' titles. The new Forza Horizon 6 has broken the record for most played racing game on Steam, and with it still to be released on PlayStation 5 it looks like it could keep going.
So if you have been playing FH6 or intend to at some point, perhaps the class system may be a bit confusing to figure out. There are eight classes of cars: D, C, B, A, S2, S1, R and X, from slowest to fastest. So if you are wondering what are the best cars to use in races, we collaborated with an old friend. Niklas 'aTTaX Johnson' Krellenberg (now known as Johnson Racing on YouTube) is a former WRC Esports champion and now full-time Forza Horizon 6 content creator.
You are perhaps wondering where the D-class cars list is, and the answer to that is simple: we will not be making one since in the game, you start racing immediately in C-class. So therefore, here are five cars that can help you power through the starting races in the game along with their tune codes.
1. Toyota Celica '03
Tune Code: 155 503 664
First up is one of the best all-rounders: The '03 Celica is perhaps the best on this list when it comes to predominantly wide open and fast sweeping configurations. The car and tune are decidedly cheap: You would only need roughly between 60,000 and 70,000 credits in order to get the car in this tune, and is perhaps the best choice for tarmac tracks with a bit of everything.
The way that the gears are set up do make it a tad sluggish getting away but once up to speed, very few cars can indeed match the Celica. But what about more specific scenarios? Well, we have those covered too.
2. GMC Jimmy
Tune Code: 810 048 384
One of the first cars you can get in the game, the GMC Jimmy may not be that attractive a prospect at first but with this tune code it can become a real contender in offroad races. It is not completely and utterly dominant by any means, but if you manage not to scrub off any momentum and keep it precise in the corners without much sliding, it can serve you immensely well.
For another option in offroad races, there is a car that we will get to that may serve better in more open races.
3. Mitsubishi Minicab Time Attack
Tune Code: 129 053 608
Now we come to a really good option on the very small tracks, essentially a go-kart in the body of a van with an oversized rear spoiler. The Mitsubishi Minicab - or to give its full name, the 1990 Mitsubishi #269 Attacking the Clock Racing Minicab Time Attack - is only available through the Time Attack DLC Pack and cannot be obtained in the pure base game.
In this tune, it does not have a high top speed at all. In fact, to say it is a go-kart would be pretty apt but if you find yourself in a race where there are no real flat out sections, you may struggle to find better than the Minicab.
4. Polaris RZR Racing
Tune Code: 987 042 217
Another offroad racing option, the Polaris typically features a single-speed gearbox, but this tune starkly contrasts that with ten gears! However, it is more like eight as the gear ratios for the top two are essentially overdrive gears but no matter, as the car is quick enough with just the first eight gears.
Unlike the GMC Jimmy, it is a lot more nimble and can be thrown around, but the trade-off is that it is a bit less stable. Nevertheless, its balance of high speed and good handling makes this an ideal choice for C class offroad races.
5. Reliant Supervan
Tune Code: 334 326 434
Now we finally come to the strangest of the lot. Up until now we have had your jack-of-all-trades car, one that is ideal for handling but what if you do a race with a lot of flat out sections? The most unlikely of savours comes in the form of a Reliant three-wheeler with the maddest tune you can think of.
Predictably, putting a Saturn 5-Rocket into this tricycle has some adverse effects, namely a distinct lack of stability. You cannot just nail the throttle and get an easy win. You will need to make sure the car doesn't spin as it often can, even as high as third gear. But when you get on top of it, the Reliant will take some real effort to beat.
A big thank you to Niklas for helping out with our article, make sure to check out his channel and watch more of his content if you want some guidance with Forza Horizon 6. This list contains just the five of the ten cars he recommends at C Class level in his video, and we will be making more lists for many of the other classes in the game.
