Project Motor Racing is part of the Xbox Free Play Days, making the game available for free on Xbox Series consoles for a limited time.
Xbox-based sim racers can try Project Motor Racing for free this weekend: The title by Straight4 Studios is part of the Xbox Free Play Days and will be available for free until April 12 on Xbox Series X|S.
The base game is also part of the Xbox Spring Sale and discounted by 50% until April 15, 2026. For sim racers who are unsure about the game, this presents a good opportunity to try PMR for themselves and grab it for less than usual should they like it.
Project Motor Racing - More Console Players?
While the player numbers on PC - at least on Steam - are fairly low for PMR following its disappointing launch in November 2025, there appears to be more of an audience on consoles: When @Michel Wolk recently jumped into a few online races following the 2.0 update, he found that the majority of his competitors were playing on consoles instead.
With limited choices for sim racing titles on consoles, Project Motor Racing appears to be a good choice for online racing for many console-based sim racers. In fact, while we found the singleplayer experience to be still lacking, the online part worked quite well.
Project Motor Racing has recently been free to play on Steam as well: Between March 26 and 30, PC players could try the game free of charge. That leaves the PlayStation 5 version as the only one without a free play weekend so far - but maybe that is set to follow soon.
