Project Motor Racing developers Straight4 Studios have announced the addition of a well-known face: Aris Vasilakos joins the team.
Following its troubled start, Project Motor Racing has seen plenty of updates, including substantial ones, as Straight4 Studios keep chipping away at the game's list of things to improve. The most recent milestone update launched in March and took the sim another step in the right direction, although not as much as the version 2.0 name might suggest.
To keep improving the title, Straight4 have hired a well-known face in the world of sim racing developers: Aristotelis Vasilakos, best known for his time at Kunos Simulazioni, has been announced as the studio's new Chief Creative Officer.
"Shaping The Creative Vision"
Aris, as Vasilakos is usually called, had been an essential part of Kunos' team during development of Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, focusing on vehicle handling and physics in the Italian studio. With Straight4 Studios, his positions appears to include a few more areas. The official press release reads:
"Aris brings with him decades of industry experience and one of the most respected handling track records in sim racing.
In this role, Aris will oversee the creative direction across Straight4 Studios moving forward, shaping the studio’s creative vision and the future direction of Project Motor Racing."
This seems to imply that Aris will get the chance to influence the overall direction of the game this time, rather than focusing on car handling and physics alone.
He will appear alongside the Straight4 Studios team at SimRacing Expo Charlotte from May 22 to 24.
In January of 2024, news emerged that Aris had left his role at Kunos after 15 years, stating that he would join “much bigger project, which will hopefully make me grow professionally.” This turned out to be Wilder World, a title mixing racing, RPG and combat elements while incorporating crypto and NFTs for its economy.
Now, Aris is back in sim racing - although that is not quite true, either, as he was already present at SimRacing Expo 2025 as part of the Gravitom project that aims to simulate sustained g-forces in sim racing.
