Motorsport Games Looks Into "Next Phase Of Growth" As LMU Buoys Continued Resurgence

Motorsport Games have reported their earnings for 2026 Q1, and thanks to Le Mans Ultimate, the company continues to have positive momentum.

Le Mans Ultimate continues to be the catalyst for Motorsport Games resurgence: It was not too long ago that the company faced numerous license deals with attached projects that did not really go anywhwere while also negatively affecting MSG's reputation. As a result, LMU was - and still is by some - viewed with some criticism by the sim racing community.

What is certain, though, is that the official WEC game continues to be the most important pillar of MSG in 2026. After restructuring the company and refocusing Studio 397 on just LMU, things are looking more positive, as MSG's 2026 Q1 Earnings Report shows.

"Financial Stability Established"

In late April, Motorsport Games bought back just over 900,000 of its own shares, already hinting at a continuation of the positive momentum witnessed in late 2025 in particular. In November, MSG CEO Stephen Hood told us that the thought of a possible rFactor 3 was floating around at the MSG/Studio 397 office. The idea is to create another leg for the company to stand on, so to speak.

In Motorsport Games' Q1 2026 Earnings Report, Hood made a similar statement looking forward, though without any specifics:

“With the financial stability we have now established, we have begun to explore the next phase of growth for Motorsport Games. Le Mans Ultimate has demonstrated that our technology platform, our development approach and our community engagement strategy can deliver a profitable, scalable business, and we continue to work on plans to expand our portfolio, taking Le Mans Ultimate to console and future possible titles.

Our recent share repurchase from Driven Lifestyle Group LLC is a direct reflection of how far the Company has come - our strengthened financial position has given us the ability to act, returning greater ownership and strategic influence to the Company and ultimately to the benefit of all shareholders.”

Motorsport Games posted a net income of about $1 million in Q1, and has cash and equivalents of $3.8 million following the buyback of its stock in April. The release also states that Motorsport Games has generated about $0.5 million of reveneue each month.

Hood named several elements within LMU to be part of this continued positive trend, such as the new user interface framework introduced in version 1.3 ("vital for release" on consoles, according to Hood), the final pieces of ELMS content, plus the addition of Logitech Trueforce support.

More LMU News Expected Around Le Mans 24 Hours

While it's unlikely that a new project outside of Le Mans Ultimate is about to be announced soon, more news relating to LMU's future can be expected around the real-life 24 Hours of Le Mans. The iconic endurance race takes place on June 13 and 14, and in 2025, MSG and Studio 397 were part of the event's official press conference. On that occasion, they announced that the game would leave Early Access with its v1.0 release in mid-July.

In the Q1 2026 Earnings Call, Hood already mentioned an idea for new track content to be brought to LMU, which is supposed to reach an audience that doesn't connect with the mainly European-based content in the game already. While Asian Le Mans Series content is expected similarly to the ELMS cars and tracks that were brought in, this could hint at more to come.

Of course, this is pure speculation, but while IMSA does have a different sanctioning body, the premier endurance racing series in North America runs mostly the same cars as WEC, and it is officially represented in multiple titles. Automobilista 2, iRacing, and Project Motor Racing all have officially licensed IMSA content - and endurance racing fans would certainly love to see it in LMU as well.
