Most Played Racing Games On Steam In May 2026: Forza Horizon 6 Goes Through The Roof

The list of the most played racing games on Steam in May 2026 has a clear leader - Forza Horizon 6 topped everything by miles. Here are the numbers.

Note: This is not a definitive list of the games' players. Most are available outside of Steam on platforms such as EA Play, Epic Games, and others, and many are also available on consoles, for which the data is not readily available. As a result, this list is based exclusively on the numbers relevant to Steam.

While iRacing is available on Steam as well, its numbers are not representative as most players access the sim through its own UI. As a result, its statistics are not included in this article.

There was no racing game bigger than Forza Horizon 6 in May 2026, and arguably, the release of the latest of Playground Games' wildly popular open world franchise is the biggest release of the year. As a result, it comes as no surprise that FH6 has toppled BeamNG.drive as the leader of the monthly player number list.

And it isn't even close: Horizon 6 clocked in at almost 180.000 more average players than BeamNG.drive, underlining the mainstream appeal of the game - and those numbers do not even include players that got the game via the Xbox Store.

"Huge" is an appropriate term in this context, especially when keeping in mind that Forza Horizon 6 already became the most played racing game on Steam of all time hours after the Premium Edition release, so ahead of the full launch of the game. When that took place a few days later, the numbers truly went through the roof.

Elsewhere, the FIA Esports Global Rally Tour appears to have boosted the numbers for Assetto Corsa Rally: Supernova Games Studios' early access title saw a 75% increase in average players as the open qualifiers were held between May 12 and 25.

At the same time, titles like Le Mans Ultimate, Automobilista 2, Assetto Corsa EVO and F1 25 all saw a slight decrease in average players. That said, all of them have either launched or are still to launch big updates in early June: LMU dropped free 2026 content, AMS2 will soon see part 2 of its big mid-2000s formula themed update, AC EVO saw the arrival of v0.7 on June 3, and on the same day, F1 25's 2026 season expansion launched.
