Most Played Racing Games On Steam In March 2026

The first quarter of the year is in the books. Here are the Steam player numbers for racing games in March of 2026.

Note: This is not a definitive list of the games' players. Most are available outside of Steam on platforms such as EA Play, Epic Games, and others, and many are also available on consoles, for which the data is not readily available. As a result, this list is based exclusively on the numbers relevant to Steam.

While iRacing is available on Steam as well, its numbers are not representative as most players access the sim through its own UI. As a result, its statistics are not included in this article.

March 2026 has been a busy month in sim racing and racing games: Plenty of big updates were released, refocusing players' attention - and then, there was the Steam Spring Sale that brought quite a few good deals to the table. As is seemingly always the case during these sales, the numbers of WRC 7 and WRC 9 surged once again, with the older title even beating out Assetto Corsa Competizione.

The biggest gain was made by The Crew Motorfest, however: Ubisoft's open world racer was discounted by 90% from its usual €69.99 price, so it appears that plenty of players took the opportunity to dive in. At the top of the list, nothing changed, with Forza Horizon 5 still behind BeamNG.drive.

At the same time, the player numbers of F1 25 reflect that the real-life F1 season kicked off in Melbourne in early March, with the game improving by roughly 23%. It will be interesting to see if there will be an even bigger jump once its 2026 expansion is released, as no new F1 game will be released by EA Sports this year.

Update Effects​

How about the sim racing titles with big updates, though? While Automobilista 2's release of version 1.6.9.5 on March 31 was too late in the month to significantly influence the player numbers - the sim even lost players compared to February -, Assetto Corsa Rally did improve by almost 20% following its late February release of Early Access version 0.3.

Percentage-wise, Project Motor Racing saw a much bigger jump thanks to the release of its v2.0 update at almost 140%. That said, the overall numbers are still nowhere near what Straight4 Studios would most likely want them to be, reaching just about 100 concurrent players on average.

RaceRoom, meanwhile, saw the arrival of three tracks, classic DTM cars and quite a few changes under the hood in late March, but didn't register any big changes in its player numbers.

Interestingly, Le Mans Ultimate was also due for a new release, and while the Studio 397 title did almost reach its all-time player peak of 8,565 concurrent players again, it also lost about 13% compared to February - despite its latest update that completed the ELMS content.
