Whilst still targeting a May release for their first major DLC, the folks over at Competition Company are still cooking up big plans for Rennsport's future content. This includes the addition of a car racing in this weekend's Nürburgring 24 Hours.
There are plenty of oddball cars among the 161 taking to the Nordschleife for the Nürburgring 24 Hours this weekend, such as an estate GT3 car, an older long-since-retired GT3 and even a Dacia Logan. But what might be of most interest to those of a retro disposition will have their eyes on three recreations of an old Group A Touring Car.
The HWA outfit are marking the end of their 30 year affiliation with Mercedes-Benz by running in the N24 with the EVO.R, a modernised but still faithful recreation of the 190E which raced in DTM from 1984 to 1995 in various evolution stages. Its original 2.5-litre 16-valve Inline-4 has been swapped out for a 3.0-litre twinturbo V6, meaning it produces 560 horsepower and it can run with some of the GT3 class.
For those of you wondering when one can drive it in a sim, well Rennsport has at least become the first official title to announce that they will be adding it. Developers Competition Company do still have a backlog of other DLC packs to release after a few delays, including the Endurance Classics Part 1 which will include both the Porsche 956 and 911 GT1, as well as the Mercedes CLK LM.
With the intention of the first pack of the Endurance Classics DLC being added this month, they still have the Touring Classics Part 1 pack also in the backlog. One of the cars being added is the original Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II of which the HWA EVO.R Restomod is based on, so perhaps it could be thrown in with the original? The Rennsport team have not said when this car should be arriving or with what update.
After initially being set for release this month, the Touring Classics Part 1 will arrive in June at the earliest. But with Rennsport's updated roadmap having Endurance Classics Part 1 set for an April release, perhaps July is the safer bet for Touring Classics Part 1. But even then, there is no guarantee that the HWA EVO.R will release with it, maybe it will arrive in a free update afterwards.
