The Full Grip Motorsport community is hosting a 12-hour event in Assetto Corsa Competizione for the Against Cancer charity on June 7 - and you can participate for free.
Assetto Corsa Competizione may not be the go-to racing sim for as many players as it used to be, but on June 7, it will become arguably the most important one again: On that day, the Full Grip Motorsport community hosts its 'Fight the battle for them' charity event, a 12-hour race at Bathurst. All funds raised around the even go to Dutch charity Against Cancer.
More specifically, the money will help Against Cancer's annual track day at TT Circuit Assen, which was created to create unforgettable memories for children with cancer and their families.
Full Grip Motorsport founder Wesley van der Linden explains the choice of Bathurst as the race's stage: "We chose Mount Panorama because it is one of the toughest tracks, and it fits the slogan 'fight the battle for them'".
Donation & Auction Revenues To Benefit Against Cancer
There are multiple ways for sim racers to get involved: Signing up to race is one of them, of course, but we'll get to the specifics of the race itself later. Another way is the classic donation way - every Euro raised goes directly to Against Cancer to help with the track day, with the donation goal set at €10,000.
On top of that, however, there will be numerous items that will be auctioned off, including sim racing gear by sponsors like Heusinkveld, Sim-Lab, MOZA Racing or Thrustmaster, with additonal prizes like MotoGP tickets or vouchers for the Bleekemolens Race Planet karting center, among plenty more. Race participants can also take home cool prizes, such as gift cards for Simracingstore.nl, a Heusinkveld neon sign, and. more. The top three teams even get a small trophy to honor their performances.
How To Sign Up For The Bathurst 12 Hours Charity Event
If you want ot get involved in the race itself, all you need to do is head over to the Full Grip Motorsport site, register your team of two to five drivers free of charge, and you are good to go. Qualifying will take place on June 6, and the race session is set to start at 08:00 UTC on June 7. It will also be broadcast live!
