Forza Horizon 6 has been available to Premium Edition owners with early access for mere hours and already ranks as the racing game with the highest concurrent player peak on SteamDB. Just how high will it go?
With early access now open to Premium Edition owners as of 15 May, Forza Horizon 6 is now here. Here at OverTake, we have already tried it and found there is a lot to like. It takes the brilliantly successful Horizon recipe and gives it a Japanese twist.
Prior to its launch, FH6 was one of the most eagerly awaited racing games of 2026, if not one of the most anticipated gaming releases of the year. And it seems that title is pretty accurate as not 12 hours after hitting Steam libraries in Europe and only just after American players finally got their hands on it, it is already trending in the top six most played games on Steam at the time of writing.
According to SteamDB, that makes it the most played racing game on Steam... Ever.
Forza Horizon 6 Tops The Charts - More To Come
Yes, you read that right. Take a look at SteamDB and, at the time of writing, Forza Horizon 6 has more than 150,000 players. For comparison, the all-time peak for Forza Horizon 5 is 81,096 whilst the most played game we would consider a racing title, F1 2015, hit its peak of 88,029 players in April 2018.

Clearly, Forza Horizon 6 has blown the racing game industry out of the water and is even taking on more mainstream titles like Rocket League, having overtaken the massively popular title's September 2020 - peak COVID times - record during the writing of this article.
To put this feat into even more perspective, the SteamDB homepage currently shows Forza Horizon 6 as the sixth most-played game on Steam.

It is worth noting that SteamDB is a service that exclusively tracks the statistics of games on the PC games library platform and that FH6 also launched on the Xbox Store on 15 May, meaning the true number of players currently logged into the new release is likely far higher. Moreover, until Monday 19 May, only those that bought the Premium Edition of the game are able to play whilst many Forza Horizon 6 fans will undoubtedly make their first forays into its Japanese world over the weekend.
So make sure to check back in with these numbers on next week to find out the real peaks this humble racing game release will have reached.
