Forza Horizon 6: 4 Tips For Your 3-Star Pier Pressure Horizon Rush Event Run

The first Horizon Rush event in Forza Horizon 6 can be difficult to complete with a full 3-star reward. Here are our top tips for FH6's 'Pier Pressure' event.

Forza Horizon 6 comes with plenty of events for players to complete. Once it's time to move on to the next wristband after racing with the very first one you obtain at the start of the game, the first Horizon Rush event awaits: Called 'Pier Pressure', this time attack event sees you race at the docks section of Tokyo City, with a daring obstacle course laid out between, on, and inside containers, among other things.

To reap the full rewards of this first Rush event, players need to beat a time of four minutes flat - which is quite the challenge, as it turns out. To help you beat this time, we have assembled our top tips for completing the run and achieve the 3-star rating.

1 - (Almost) No Handbrake Needed

It is tempting to go sideways often in the event - you're driving a Ford RS200, after all, the road-going version of a 1985 Group B rally car. And getting a bit of extra rotation in the tight corners by using the handbrake might seem like a good idea to get around them quicker.

The main takeaway from completing the event was that smooth is quicker, though. That may not look as spectacular as drifting between walls of shipping containers, but while the handbrake does help to get some extra rotation, it also slows the car down quite a bit. As a rule of thumb, try to keep in mind that the less you slide, the more you keep up momentum.

There are small exceptions: At the beginning of the Container Climb section (the third sector), there are are three very tight hairpins - a slight touch of the handbrake helps you rotate the car around the apex here, but be sure to get most of your braking done before turning in and using the handbrake.

2 - Fourth Gear Through The Water

Another thing to keep in mind in the Container Climb section are the water splashes you race through on four occasions, as they are landing zones for jumps. Two of them come after fairly long flat out sections that can easily require shifting up to fifth gear in the RS200.

However, as you land in the water, you will lose quite a bit of speed. Make sure to be in fourth gear to avoid bogging down, which will cost you valuable time. In fourth, the car gains speed again quite quickly, at least as much as the resistance of the water allows.

The wide approach to this corner in the Yard section makes you think that you can brake later than you should - nailing the apex at the left-hand side of the warehouse gate ahead is crucial.

3 - Early On The Throttle At The Apex

Some parts of the course are unbelievably wide - so much so that it seems like it doesn't matter which line you take. That is not quite the case, however: We found it to be faster to go for as wide an entry as possible, slow down enough to hit the apex, and be on the throttle again as early as possible, especially since there a quite a few sections that are fairly long and full throttle.

Essentially, approach these turns like you would in a racing sim, and you should be in a good position to maximize your momentum as well as your exit without hitting the barriers.

A wide line allows for enough momentum to achieve the correct speed for the jump in the final section of the course.

4 - The Final Turn Is Crucial

Say you've heeded all the advice mentioned so far, and you had very clean run. All that separates you from the 3-star glory of a sub-4-minute time is one last right hander followed by a couple of jumps - what could go wrong?

Well, your entire run could fall flat on its bum, really. The final right-hander leads into a ramp, which you need to hit at the right speed. Otherwise, the rest of the course, even if it is only going straight, will make your run fall apart.

Immediately following the first jump, there is a glass ceiling that you need to crash throught continue racing at speed at the level below. Too slow, and you'll do a front flip, too fast (which is difficult, but possible), and you crash into the edge of the opening, killing all momentum immediately. If you lose momentum, you will also not make the following jump through a bunch of huge cranes in a way that allows you to keep up your speed until the finish line.

The speed that we found to be working is between 132 and 135 kph (82-84 mph) at the ramp, which requires a clean run through the final turn. A wide line that doesn't come close to the apex worked best here, ironically - partially a contradiction to tip #1, but that's why we focus on this one corner in detail.

These tips, and a good amount of practice, should allow you to work your way past that 4-minute barrier. Good luck on your 'Pier Pressure' runs! If this guide helped you, be sure to let us know in the comments!
