For the first time in nearly two decades, there will be no new officially licenced Formula One game. Instead, the most recent title F1 25 will get a 2026 Season Pack - and it will not be long before we find out more.
The EA Sports F1 games have been polarising to put it mildly, with many players bemoaning the lack of lasting positive changes or fixes between instalments. Change was needed to rejuvenate interest in the series again, and it seems like EA acknowledged this, too.
Back in November, EA Sports announced that there would be a 2026 season expansion coming to F1 25 with there being no new game until 2027, possibly implying that the game could serve as a standalone for multiple seasons. But that is then and as for now, after a lot of uncertainty as to when it would be added, the 2026 Season Pack for F1 25 appears to be just around the corner.
On May 20th at 3pm UTC, the reveal trailer will premiere on the official EA Sports F1 YouTube channel.
F1 25 Season 2026 Expansion: What Will It Feature?
The trailer should reveal what to look foward to, with the two new teams on the grid Audi and Cadillac of course having their drivers - Gabriel Bortoleto and Valtteri Bottas - featuring prominently in the cover art along with arguably F1's most iconic driver and team pairing of Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari overalls.
Also, take note of the track that they are on with the fancy logo displayed behind them, the new Spanish Grand Prix host track which will of course be making its debut this year. The 22-turn 5.4km Madring semi-street circuit will no doubt be the first track that many will take to once the expansion pack releases, with its banked turn 12 corner set to be one of the most unique in Grand Prix racing.
The question is what else players can expect beyond all of the 2026 season drivers, teams and tracks. Racing Bulls driver Arvid Lindblad will be selectable as an F1 driver for the first time of course, whilst Honda have made a return as an engine supplier this year with Aston Martin and Renault departed after Alpine switched to Mercedes power. Therefore in My Team career modes, Honda should be an option whilst Red Bull engines should also have a Ford badge.
To what extent the new-for-2026 hybrid implementation is simulated remains to be seen - if represented in a true-to-life manner, F1 25 would have to adapt their driving quite a bit when jumping between the 2025 and 2026 season.
For anything else beyond that, we will find out soon enough when the reveal trailer goes live on May 20th.
