CLUTCH Cinematic Story Trailer Reveals Storylines, But Lacks New Content

CLUTCH was revealed to the world on the 2nd of June, but today marks the debut of the cinematic story trailer, a sequence that lays the groundwork for the narrative rather than offering gameplay insight. From big crashes to James Bond-style grappling hooks, CLUTCH has a lot to show off.

The trailer begins with gorgeous shots of Monaco, featuring sweeping camera angles of the ocean, buildings, and signage that one-hundred per cent confirm the title's location. Following that, we are thrown onto a racing circuit with two of our main characters for CLUTCH's storyline.

There is no doubt where Clutch is set... Featuring a new Lamborghini Diablo SV!

The next shots set up a racing scene with the previously announced GT4 variants of the Aston Martin and the Porsche, which are shown again, culminating in a huge crash involving what we think is a fictional vehicle. The main character decides to turn to street racing alongside his circuit-racing career, and the trailer shifts its focus to the street-racing side of the game.

After this, the trailer begins to showcase more erratic driving and plenty of exotic cars, though they are the same ones we already knew about from Maverick Games' initial launch on June 2nd. The main character, Theo, has become an outlaw after making what seems to be a long line of mistakes away from the racing.

The fictional car in question...

In a scene where Theo is panicking on the phone with someone about being in deeper trouble than he started in, we can get a good taste of what is expected from teh real cutscenes of CLUTCH. This game is very clearly not trying to be Forza Horizon, but to carve its own niche out entirely in the modern racing game space. The question is: are open-world racing fans really going to be invested in the story?

A little more dialogue follows, with Theo and his sister arguing about jail time and the risks of street racing, even though he is a top driver in the R2K, the racing series in the CLUTCH universe.

The final shot of the trailer shows what we assume to be Theo jumping a supercar off the top of a building and grappling-hooking a helicopter... Is anyone else getting huge James Bond or Fast and Furious vibes?

CLUTCH is available to wishlist today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, ahead of its planned Spring 2027 launch.
