Automobilista 2 | The Ultimate Formula 1 Season Guide - Fully Revamped For 2026

Automobilista 2 features an unparalleled amount of first-party content that portrays Formula One across seven decades. This is our Ultimate F1 Season Guide for AMS2.

If you are a fan of Formula One and its history, chances are you have at least looked at Automobilista 2 at some point. The sim by Reiza Studios portrays 21 seasons from seven decades of the sport, though they are not labeled with years for licensing reasons. That can make things a bit confusing, of course.

To help with this, we have created the Ultimate F1 Season Guide for AMS2 all the way back in 2022. It has since been expanded with new classes that have arrived in the meantime, but in the first half of 2026, it felt like it was time for a substantial refresh.

And here it is - we are proud to give you version 2.0 of the F1 Season Guide! It features all F1-based classes, with information on the cars, their respective calendars, DLC that's needed to fully enjoy them, and other helpful tips and facts.

Plus, of course, the download links to the hugely popular skin packs are included so you can increase the immersion of your F1-based time travel even more.

Check out the individual season pages in the sidebar (at the bottom of the article on mobile) for all the info on the specific classes and years!

Which DLC Do I Need To Have All F1 Content In AMS2?

There are plenty of DLC packs for Automobilista 2 as of June 2026. If you want the full F1 experience with all cars and tracks available in the sim, you'll need the following packs:

DLC cars are marked with an asterisk (*) on their respective season page.

If you don't mind the differences in layouts and surroundings, there are free (usually modern) versions of tracks like Montréal, Estoril (Cascais), or the Red Bull Ring already in AMS2 as part of the base game package. Be sure to check out our DLC guide by clicking below to get the full overview of all the additional content packs.

Additionally, we have a full AMS2 content list that also tells you if a car or track is part of the base game or DLC. Check it out by clicking below!

DLC By Season

Note that with the exception of the two F-HiTech classes, all F1-based classes have varying levels of content that is part of the base game, including most cars. That means that you don't need any DLC to race them, but if you want to get the most out of them, here's what you need for each season.

How To Install Skin Packs

Plenty of skin packs are available for the F1-based classes in AMS2, and most of them come with AI files, too - those change the names and performances of the CPU-controlled drivers in singleplayer to match those of the real-life drivers of a season.

Installing them is easy, and there are two ways to go about it:

  1. Download the pack of your choice, then drag and drop the folders in the archive (usually .zip, .7z, or .rar) you just downloaded to the root folder of your AMS2 installation. By default, this is Steam/steamapps/common/Automobilista 2.
  2. Use AMS2 Content Manager. Once installed, it automatically detects your AMS2 installation directory and you can use it to install and uninstall packs. Simply drag and drop a downloaded archive into AMS2 Content Manager, click the 'apply' button, and you're good to go once the installation finished. To uninstall, simply uncheck a pack and hit apply.

Using The XML Selector

A good number of skin packs are called Season Packs for a reason: They come with race-specific liveries, driver lineups and performances, helmet designs, and more. To conveniently switch between these scenarios, they come with an XML selector. This is a file that you will find in your AMS2 root folder (Steam/steamapps/common/Automobilista 2) with a name that matches the Season Pack you have installed. Double click on it and follow the instructions to install the scenario you want.

We hope you find this guide helpful - enjoy your trip through the F1 timeline in Automobilista 2!
