Rennsport has released its first update in almost six months, including new content, but also lots of fixes and additions.
To say that the update frequency for Rennsport has been a tad slow in 2026 would be a huge understatement: The last bigger patch for the sim was released in early December of 2025, and since then, things had fallen quiet in terms of new updates.
Rennsport did start off 2026 with a big announcement in February regarding its revamped strategy moving forward, and throughout all of this, the Endurance Classics DLC was delayed multiple times as well.
Now, the paid content pack is here, alongside a considerably-sized update that accompanies it and takes the first steps into fixing the most pressing issues, as well as more singleplayer-focused elements. Update v1.2.4 has arrived, so let's check whether it moves things in the right direction.
Rennsport: New Free Content & Endurance Classics DLC
Starting off with the new content, it was known since we visited Rennsport in Munich earlier this year what the Endurance Classics DLC would entail. The following is part of the pack:
Cars
- Mercedes CLK LM
- Peugeot 9X8 (with rear wing)
- Porsche 911 GT1-98
- Porsche 956
Track
- Le Mans (Circuit de 24 Heures du Mans)
Rennsport v1.2.4 Free Content
In addition to this paid DLC, the following content is added free of charge for all players:
Car
- Hyundai N Vision 74
Liveries
- Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II: Audi Sport Customer Racing livery
- BMW M2 CSR: Six distinct customer raceing liveries
- Hyundai Elantra N TCR: Customer racing livery
- Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020: Official reveal livery
- Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport: nine official OEM liveries
Track
- Kuala Lumpur Street Circuit
Track Layouts
- 8ETA (Oval)
- Daytona (Speedway)
- Fuji (Shortcut)
- Monza (Shortcut)
- Nürburgring (GP Fast Chicane)
The new content is a nice addition, of course, and it is particularly good to see that despite it being ruled out in February, H-pattern support has been added in the update. Considering the Porsche 956 is a manual car, it would have felt incomplete without it - which is something we brought up with the Rennsport team when talking about the DLC content. Similarly, support for manual-sequential shifting is on board, too.
It has to be noted, however, that the new content also creates new classes, and they are lacking depth as a result. The Porsche 956 is the only Group C car in the game, and the GT1 class only has two entries. while the Peugeot slots into the LMDh class (despite technically being an LMH car), bumping it up to three entries.
Le Mans comes with two layouts, the normal 24-hour variant, and the chicane-less version as well, providing a good playground for the new prototypes in particular - although the 956 only comes in its short tail configuration, not the longtail versions that were raced at Le Mans in the 1980s.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur might be the visual star of the show, as the track detailed street circuit can stake a serious claim for best-looking circuit in Rennsport. Racing there is quite hectic, however, with few straight lines in its layout - plenty of full-throttle passages are slightly curved, leading into quite challenging braking zones as a result.
AI Improvements
As mentioned, AI improvements are also part of the patch, as Rennsport wants to offer a better singleplayer experience. This is not a revolution - in fact, the dev team themselves treat it as a first iteration, so there should be more to come still. They do claim that the AI logic has been rebuilt from the ground up to help them "understand space, aggression, and the physical consequences of a collision" better, according to the team.
In practice, that does translate to AI races now actually being possible without being plowed into whenever you go near another car, though not in a groundbreaking way. Still, it's an improvement compared to what was there at release - just like the ability to choose a difficulty preset for custom singleplayer races, which also wasn't a thing when Rennsport launched.
The team is aware of issues that the AI has even with this new update, such as them holding back quite a bit at the start of a race to prioritize safety rather than speed, or them lifting where you wouldn't expect them to. The new AI system was calibrated using the GT3 class, so performance in other classes may vary.
