Many sim racers will recognise Black Cat County from the original Assetto Corsa, named in jest after Kunos Simulazioni's black cat logo, but in 2026 the layouts have become rather dated and overused. OverTake modder, @Hoksu, has the solution!
Originally released in June 2025, this pack of 6 layouts for Black Cat County uses the existing roads in new configurations. All have working AI, with a maximum of 34 pitboxes along with cameras. Unlike in the default layouts of this location, driving and cutting the track using the sand to the sides of teh road is punished with a track limits violation, keeping the racing much cleaner than in the original title.
For some road textures, a further mod is recommended but not required. @Matyeah's "Black Cat County different road texture ". This is required because the intersection KN5 is included in all models and road textures. These are optional, but creator Hoksu recommends them alongside his track pack.
The new configurations of Black Cat County are great fun, mostly because they are easily recognisable from the originals, despite them having their own charm and features. Assetto Corsa is over a decade old, and Black Cat County is an OG circuit pack. Having a good quality set of new layouts for this iconic location is a blessing for all Assetto Corsa fans!
Exploring the Layouts: A Complete Guide
Intermediate Reverse
A straightforward twist on the default experience, Intermediate Reverse flips the standard 6.4 km layout into a counterclockwise challenge. Familiar corners suddenly feel very different, rewarding drivers who can quickly adapt their braking points and racing lines.
Tour Reverse
One of the more expansive configurations, Tour Reverse begins with the tight, technical touge section before opening up into the sweeping, high-speed roads of the longer layout.
Tour Reverse (Chicanes)
If the standard Tour Reverse feels a little too fast in places, this variant adds three makeshift chicanes to the long section. These interruptions break up the rhythm and force heavier braking zones, creating more overtaking opportunities during a race.
Mountain
Arguably the most adventurous layout of the lot, Mountain stretches out to 13.4 km and ventures into areas not typically accessible in standard Kunos configurations. After tackling the high-speed section, the route dives into a scenic but demanding mountainside road before reconnecting with the touge. The lap concludes with a tight hairpin at the pit entrance, where a chicane keeps speeds under control, echoing the pit-entry style of classic road circuits like Thomson Road.
Peak
Peak flips the perspective entirely, placing the start/finish line at the top of the mountain. From there, drivers descend the touge, flow through the mountainside section, and loop the central intersection before climbing back uphill. At 7.4 km, it is shorter than the Tour, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in technical complexity and elevation changes.
Peak Reverse
As the name suggests, Peak Reverse runs the same layout in the opposite direction. This simple change dramatically alters the challenge, turning climbs into descents and reworking the rhythm of the entire lap—perfect for those looking to re-learn the circuit from a fresh perspective.
